Complete Kitchen Makeover – on a budget. – It’s Got Potential
ERIKA STORM WASSER: Hi, I’m Erika, comedienne and sponsor of “SpacesTV.” I just moved into a Tribeca loft. But the only cause I was able to afford it is because is actually falling apart. But the place offers great bones. It has a lot potential. And luckily, I’m constantly down for a renovation transformation project, which is why we are going area by room, with the help of my friends through “SpacesTV” and the design savvy that will I’ve picked up along the way, in switching this space from hot clutter into a place I can contact home. So the kitchen comes quickly of the foyer. And it’s area of the living room. So it’s the huge factor that you see, no matter where you are downstairs. And right now, it is pretty unsightly. We have these awesome, inexpensive cabinets with equally as flimsy grips, or hardware, this really unusual coppery-red Formica countertop, that’s simply horrendous. I actually like the appliances. I believe those look really great. But there is absolutely no natural light in here. But overall, we all do have a lot of storage, that i really like.
I love this counter. This island of copper, I think, is absolutely cool. When they built this, they made it really, really inexpensive, though. And they put it on, like, just random stock plywood. So it takes the entire chic aspect and takes it down. But overall, let’s sort of give this particular entire room a facelift. Good morning. It has been another morning hours where I have been awoken by the buzzer. But this time, it’s not so horrible, because it is the lovely Brian Kelsey. [DRILL WHIRS] BRIAN KELSEY: Ready in order to rock. ERIKA STORM WASSER: We are doing the kitchen today. Boys, how’s it going? -It’s going very good. ERIKA STORM WASSER: [LAUGHING]. JOHN KELSEY: Yeah. ERIKA STORM WASSER: [LAUGHING].
[LAUGHING]. How do you feel? JOHN KELSEY: Fan– [BLEEP]– tastic. And that’s not the screwdrivers talking. ERIKA STORM WASSER: Oh, is it on, the computer? Sorry. BRIAN KELSEY: Oh, look at it. It’s only been in this particular obvious– ERIKA STORM WASSER: So it is now later in the day. The lovely Brian Kelsey is producing his way. BRIAN KELSEY: Where’s my cruddy little sister? ERIKA STORM WASSER: [LAUGHING]. I mean, no one is happy when they get to the house.
BRIAN KELSEY: I’m happy. ERIKA STORM WASSER: Brian Kelsey, therefore hot right now. BRIAN KELSEY: Success. ERIKA STORM WASSER: Brian Kelsey. BRIAN KELSEY: No one’s warmer than me. Nobody. Nobody. ERIKA STORM WASSER: What? BRIAN KELSEY: Nobody’s hotter than me. Ha! ERIKA STORM WASSER: Ha! JOHN KELSEY: Ha! ERIKA STORM WASSER: Ha! What about Ryan Gosling? Do you think Ryan Gosling? JOHN KELSEY: What’s that? ERIKA TORNADO WASSER: What about Ryan Gosling? BRIAN KELSEY: Uh, as far as guys go, yeah, he’s, uh, you understand, he’s, uh, you know. ERIKA TORNADO WASSER: [LAUGHING]. BRIAN KELSEY: He’s an attractive fellow. ERIKA STORM WASSER: Do you know that they make chair with Ryan Gosling’s face on them? BRIAN KELSEY: That’s awesome.
ERIKA STORM WASSER: Peace away, “SpacesTV.” Wish us luck. The entire design was actually directed by Kenneth and Davis, who else also did the foyer, as well as the living room, and one of our bathrooms. So we popped the cabinet doorways off. And then, we power-sanded them. Then, we painted this high-gloss white from Benjamin Moore. BRIAN KELSEY: Now, these are extra-large handles. These are really large– ERIKA STORM WASSER: Um, hmm. JOHN KELSEY: –for cabinetry.
But that will puts it into that sort of contemporary kind of look, what they were opting for. ERIKA STORM WASSER: And after that, the countertops really are what began changing the entire space. So is actually a product called the iCoat items. And it’s a concrete overlay. And we have an entire episode devoted just to this process. So if you are since fascinated as we were– BRIAN KELSEY: Yeah. ERIKA STORM WASSER: –you will learn all about the iCoat program. These industrial lighting fixtures– what we should did was we spray-painted these types of white. They were green plus dirty and outdated. Honestly– JOHN KELSEY: Um, hmm. ERIKA TORNADO WASSER: –it was five minutes. You just sort of spray it. And boom, you were done. And after that, the floating shelves is what actually was like the final clincher. And we’re able to have put a mirror or even something silly. But it would not have been usable space.
And simply by putting the floating shelves right now there, it was a place where we’re able to accessorize. We could display points. And it sort of just required the entire kitchen and finished this. BRIAN KELSEY: Yeah, and it’s a great place to store things that are usually nice to look at. ERIKA STORM WASSER: Yeah. BRIAN KELSEY: You understand, it’s still a storage area– ERIKA STORM WASSER: Definitely. JOHN KELSEY: –but it’s a good display. ERIKA STORM WASSER: I really like how this kitchen came out. Constantly believe I’m about to say this particular, but I actually want to spend time with the food prep. Thank you so much to Kenneth and Davis, who led the style, all of the accessories from HomeGoods plus Global Views. The cabinets– the particular paint is high-gloss white through Benjamin Moore– amazing. And the particular countertops– 10-minute iCoat– I love all of them so much. Make sure to check out that will episode where we go through the whole process of just the countertops.
And, naturally , the blood, sweat and holes of yours truly. BRIAN KELSEY: Uh, well, it was. I led you through the work, and I type of watched you. ERIKA STORM WASSER: He got his hands unclean, and he did all of this. So don’t allow him tell you otherwise. Thank a person very much for your help. BRIAN KELSEY: It was my pleasure. The only thing I require is usually, maybe, you could consider, now that you have this particular fancy new kitchen, you know, cause me to feel something, like, I like spaghetti plus meatballs– ERIKA STORM WASSER: Here you go. OK? BRIAN KELSEY: –and an apple. ERIKA STORM WASSER: Bye, guys. BRIAN KELSEY: Thanks. ERIKA STORM WASSER: You have been viewing “It’s Got Potential.” We’re going to have a new episode every week.
